Pledge to Stay Safe: Practical Steps to Prevent COVID-19

Prevention is better than cure, and nowhere is that truer than in our ongoing fight against Covid-19. The second wave hit many parts of India hard, exposing shortages of oxygen, hospital beds, and other critical resources. India’s healthcare workers have worked tirelessly, but the pandemic remains a threat and could return in future waves. To protect ourselves, our families and our communities, it’s essential that we pledge to follow safety measures and remain vigilant.

Repeat the pledge with us:

  • To protect lives and act as responsible citizens, I will follow the rules and guidelines issued by the Government of India.
  • I will wash and sanitize my hands regularly at work, at home, and in public spaces.
  • I will monitor myself for Covid-19 symptoms and follow quarantine guidance if required.
  • I will stay home unless it is essential to go out. When out, I will wear a mask and maintain at least 6 feet of distance from others.
  • I will get vaccinated against coronavirus and complete the recommended doses.

Important facts to remember about Covid-19

  1. Common symptoms include cough, fever, chills, headache, loss of smell or taste, shortness of breath, nausea, and fatigue.
  2. Asymptomatic people can still transmit the virus, so precautions remain important even if you feel well.
  3. Complete the full vaccination schedule recommended for you. While vaccination may not guarantee absolute immunity, it significantly reduces the risk of severe illness and improves outcomes if you contract the virus.
  4. Reinfection is possible, so continue to follow preventive measures even after recovery.
  5. Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  6. Always cover your nose and mouth with a mask, especially when coughing or sneezing in public spaces.
  7. Avoid touching your face—eyes, nose, and mouth—unless your hands are clean.
  8. Keep distance from people who are sick and avoid crowded indoor spaces when possible.
  9. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow or sleeve instead of your hands.
  10. Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home and work, as the virus can persist on surfaces for varying periods.

Create a safe workplace

Workplaces can reduce transmission risk by maintaining rigorous cleaning and disinfection protocols. Supporting employees as they return to work—through clear policies, mental health resources, flexible arrangements, and practical safety measures—helps them adapt to the ongoing challenges of the pandemic. A tailored plan that addresses exposure risks, infection control, and employee wellbeing is essential to protect staff and clients alike.

At EarlySalary, we have implemented strict measures to protect our employees while they continue to serve clients during the pandemic. These initiatives focus on safety, hygiene, and support for staff as they navigate work and personal challenges during this time.

Lend a helping hand

Supporting our communities is vital during the pandemic. Contributions in the form of funds, food, clothing, medical equipment, or oxygen supplies can make a real difference. Collective effort helps address shortages and supports vulnerable people who need assistance.

As an example of community support, EarlySalary’s employees contributed funds in May 2021 to assist the Command Hospital Southern Command (CHSC) in Pune. The hospital, which serves the Armed Forces, also supported civilian patients during the pandemic. Donations were used to procure items such as pulse oximeters, e-rickshaws, and beverage vending machines to support hospital operations and patient care.
